I read The Final Warning, by James Patterson, I would rate this book a 10 out of 10, and it was 295 pages long.
One major external conflict is when Max, Fang, Iggy, The Gasman, Nudge, Angel, and Total are beginning to mutate on their own. Fang can disappear in thin air, and reappears once he moves. The Gasman can pass near atomic gas, Iggy can feel colors. Nudge can make metal things jump towards her, and Angel can change her appearance. Total is growing wings. These mutations may seem harmless at first, but the fact that they are beginning to mutate on their own means one word, danger. If the mutation start to get out of control, who knows what that can lead into?
Everyone is on count for a new skill, except Max. This doesn’t appear to worry Max, but there are times in the book where Max starts to worry if the is the only “Normal” one. Max also is concerned for the flock, and worries about the mysterious mutations. This is one major internal conflict. Another major internal conflict throughout the book is between Max and Fang. Max still doesn’t know how to feel about Fang, he’s just always been a “brother” to her. Until lately, when Fang kisses Max and asks about her feelings. Max feels awkward and leaves Fang in this scene. Max later notices a young scientist studying the flock has feelings for Fang. This makes Max jealous. Throughout the whole book, Max is wavering on her opinion of Fang.

* WARNING* *SPOILER ALERT!!!*
I read The Private Thoughts of Amelia E. Rye, by Bonnie Shimko, it is 234 pages long and I gave it a 10 out of 10!
The person who changed the most from the beginning of this book to the end was the main character, Amelia’s mom. This book is written from the perspective of Amelia, so it is more like her mom changed in Amelia’s eyes, more than she actually did in real life. But, she did still change a lot.
At the beginning of the book, the mom is depicted as a crazy lady, who tried to kill her fourth child. When she found out that she was pregnant, she jumped out of a window, and tried to kill the baby. I know that this may seem like a horrible book, but it gets soooo good throughout the book, so stick with me.
Later on, she is rotten to Amelia in Amelia’s eyes, she makes her clean up, and doesn’t act like she loves her. She would call Amelia names. Amelia had two older sisters, and one older brother, and the mom favored the second sister. Her dad also left when he found out that his wife was pregnant with Amelia. Amelia felt like no one loved her, and that her mom didn’t care. Amelia had a friend, but she had to be kept a secret, because Amelia’s mom didn’t want her at her house, because she was an African American. All of these details goes to show that the mom was rotten.
Later on in the book, the oldest sister comes for a visit, asking the mother to sign a will, giving them the house (as you can see, this family has a lot of problems). Amelia is concerned why her mom would need to get a will right now, because she thinks that she is in good health. Up until William, Amelia’s older sister’s son chirps in saying that her mom has a bad heart, and that she could drop dead any second. Amelia is scared by this sudden change in events, and tried to be nicer to her mom, this thought was lost within a few days.
Amelia’s friend and her mom both loved each other very much, showing Amelia just what she was missing. She considered Amelia’s friend’s mom to be her second mom. Amelia tried to treat her own mom in the same way that she treats her friend’s mom. Once in a while, Amelia notices that her mom does have a soft side, but doesn’t show it very often.
At the end of the novel, her mom passes away, causing all of Amelia’s mixed up family to reunite. Amelia has no place to live now, other than with her oldest sister, who had it written into the will that she would keep Amelia. When the judge examines the will, he finds that Amelia’s mom has left her the choice of whoever she wanted to live with.
Amelia is then filled with thoughts of how much her mom cared for her, even though she covered it up. Amelia’s mom changed drastically throughout the book, and not just because she died in the end.

I read Thirteen Little Blue Evelopes, by Maureen Johnson, it was 318 pages long, and I would rate it a 8 out of 10.
Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes is about a girl named Ginny, who is sent on a wild quest all throughout Europe by her so called, run-away-aunt. Each of the thirteen little blue envelopes has new instructions for Ginny. Her aunt had died a little while back, and now Ginny is sent to find out all about her life.
Keith was a minor character that had a major importance in this book. the first place that Ginny was sent to was England, to some guy named Keith. When Ginny arrives, she finds that Keith was a man that her aunt had stayed with during her time in England. Keith welcomed Ginny into his home, allowing her to use her aunt’s old bedroom. Keith helped Ginny a lot on her stay in England. The envelope instructed Ginny to find out what the queen had bought from Keith, and then she could continue on her quest. Keith helped Ginny with the first little blue envelope.
Keith shows up again later in the book, when Ginny had been instructed to go to Greece. Ginny had all of her belongings stolen, except for her passport and bank card. Ginny had ran out of money, and was stuck in Greece. Keith gave Ginny money to get back to England with, then helped Ginny solve the missing envelopes.
Keith was always there to back Ginny up, especially after she finds out that Keith is her uncle. Her Aunt and Keith had eloped in England, without anyone knowing it.
Keith had a major importance because he always picked Ginny up when she was down, was always there in a time of need. Without Keith in this book, Ginny wouldn’t of been able to get out of England in the beginning, and she also wouldn’t be able to get out of Greece in the end. This shows that Keith was Ginny’s true friend from the beginning to the end.
looming Itex industry, Max and the gang are back to save the world. And yes, this does mean that they have to go right back to Itex. Now, if you haven’t read any book in the Maximum ride series, stop reading right here and go pick up the first book in the series, The Angel Experiment . But if you already have , then just keep on reading.
The Maximum Ride series is action packed, and full of adventure. Ever wonder what it would be like to have wings? Well max and her six “siblings” know. These books are very descriptive, funny, and full of adventure.
This series is most suitable for teens, but I could also see younger children and adults enjoying the series as well. James Patterson is an author for all ages.
In the third book, Saving the World, and other extreme sports, Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman, and Angel set off to shut down the Itex cooperation, before it’s too late. Already, the six kids have been noticing strange changes, one being the fact that the erasers seem to be taking a break on their quest to kill them. Also, Max’s “voice” has also seem to be takinga breather. Now, the kids have started a quest to figure out what exactingly is going on.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is willing for a good read. This book is action and adventure packed, hilarious, and full of excitement for all ages.

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!
I loved the book Schools Out Forever, by James Patterson. This is the second book in the series, Maximum Ride. This series is about six kids who were genetically enhanced to have bird DNA mixed with human. This means that they have wings. These six kids have recently escaped the evil school where they were made, when the youngest of the group is kidnapped by their creators. After they rescue the youngest, (end of first book), the six kids are sent out to find their parents.
I love James Patterson’s writing style. It always keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat waiting for more. There is always a ton of action, and I never was uninterested in this book.
This series is the best series that I have ever read. I would recommend it to anyone. There is a lot of action, and a little drama as well. This series is full of twists are turns that you never expect.
In the second book of the Maximum Ride series, Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, The Gasman, and Angel all are on a quest to find their long lost parents. All until they get attacked by erasers… again. Fang gets injured are Max rushes him to the hospital. Fang then gets sent to rehab… but not the rehab that you would expect. The six kids get sent to Anne’s house, who mysteriously seems to know too much information about the kids. Can the kids trust her? Will they trust her? You just have to read and see!
I would recommend this book to anyone. Maximum Ride is an amazing action packed series, with tons of twists and turns. This is not your average book.

I read A Drowned Maiden’s Hair by the author Laura Amy Shlitz for Reading Counts and I passed my test with flying colors! I completed 389 pages, and I would give this book a rating of 5 out of 10.
I read Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment, my James Patterson. The genre was action, and the theme showed how important family is, and to stick together. The book is 422 pages long. Max(Maximum) is a typical teen, if you call typical being on the run from evil wolf men who want to kill you, not knowing who your birth parents are, and, oh, yea, she has wings. Max and her family, Fang, Nudge, Angel, Iggy, and the Gasman, were genetically enhanced to have wings, and other special powers. These six kids are being tracked by Erasers, evil wolf men mutants that were trained to kill them. When Angel gets taken away, Max and the gang are determined to save the youngest of the pack.
I loved this book, one thing that I like about it is the way that it is written. Instead of being from Max’s point of view, occasionally the narration is switched over to one of the others, like Angel, Iggy, of the Gasman. This makes the book more interesting, because you can see how characters other than Max are thinking. Also, I really enjoyed all of the action in this book. I love action packed books, because there is a lot of suspense and the book keeps you reading. I also like how there is many twists and turns throughout the book.
The Angel Experiment is the best book that I have ever read. I never lost interest or got bored while this book was in my hands. I was eating up the words, not bit by bit, but in gulps. I couldn’t put this book down, literally. The Angel Experiment is action packed, adventurous, and a wonderful read.
I would recommend this book to anyone. The Angel Experiment keeps the reader reading, it doesn’t bore the reader. There are several twists and turns throughout the book, keeping the reader always begging for more. This book is suspensful, full of action, and adventurous. The Angel Experiment is the perfect book for any reader who loves action, and a series that engulfs you.
.I read Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins (yes, I read all three, IN ORDER, but I published them out of order, sorry). Catching Fire is a 391 paged science fiction book. The theme is that even when you are your lowest, persevere. IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE FIRST BOOK, DON’T READ PAST THIS POINT!! I couldn’t summarize the second book without giving away the ending to the first book.
Katniss just got back from the first hunger games, a fight to death, with millions of people watching you on live television. Now, the capitol sees her as a threat. Katniss rebelled against the capital in the first hunger games, and now she will learn what just the smallest of actions can lead to.
I really loved this book. Suzanne Collins is an amazing writer, and I love her series. One thing that I dislike about the way that the book is written is that the subject matter is just really dark. These books are awesome, but the whole subject matter can make you a little mad, and it’s supposed to. When a book makes you mad, it keeps you reading, until you get what you want. Which is something that I love about her writing style. The story doesn’t bore you, it keeps you yearning for more.
A strength of this book is that the characters really come alive. You can visualize President Snow’s black snake eyes. The characters feelings are real and believable. A weakness of this book is that I think that a lot of people will be turned off by the subject, the fact that people are constantly dying and fighting in the books. Athough, this weakness can also be a strength, because it is so different from other books that I (and most people) have read.
Catching Fire is such a different book. I read a wide of variety of kinds of books, and never have I read a book like this one. Catching Fire pulls you in, and you can’t get out until you turn that final page. This is one of the few books that I have been obsessed with. I love Catching Fire.
I would recommend this book ONLY to those who have read the first book, The Hunger Games. Catching Fire pulls you in, you can’t stop reading until that final page. This book is so different from other books, it’s a book that you don’t want to miss.

I read Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, by Wendy Mass. This book was realistic fiction, and the theme is that life is short – enjoy it while you can. It was 289 pages long.
Jeremy Fink is going to turn thirteen in a week. But when he gets a mysterious box from his dad, titled The Meaning of Life, but the four keys to the box are missing, can Jeremy and his friend Lizzy find the four keys before the time’s up?
When Jeremy’s Dad was young, he went to a fortune teller, who told him that he would die at the age of forty. Jeremy’s Dad believed the fortune, and lived the rest of his life with meaning.
I like this book’s writing style because because there’s a bunch of twists and turns. I also like it because it is written from the view point of a almost thirteen year old. Jeremy Fink is very different from your average teenager, he hates surprises, he collects mutant candy, and won’t go more than a few blocks away from his house if possible. I liked seeing things in Jeremy’s eyes.
Wendy Mass expresses a lot of different views on life. One in particular I don’t agree with at all. This was the scientific view of how life started. I don’t’ believe in this. I accepted that this view was expressed in Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, because Mass also expresses different views too. Like from a Christian point of view, and a lot of others too.
I really enjoyed this book! It was such a sweet story, and it was very touching. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially girls around the age of thirteen. I think that this book is more towards girls, I am sure that boys wouldn’t enjoy this book. This was a really cute story.
